Morgan Winery is family owned and operated since 1982. They craft artisan, terroir driven wines from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Monterey Bay, including their own organically farmed Double L Vineyard.
The Santa Lucia Highlands sits on the east-facing terraces of the Santa Lucia mountain range to the south of Monterey Bay on California’s Central Coast. In the 1790s Spanish missionaries and conquistadors planted the first vinifera wine grapes here but for the next two centuries the area focused more on vegetable farming than on viticulture. Winemaking really started to redevelop as an industry in the 1970s with the emergence of a handful of family wineries. The Santa Lucia Highlands officially became an AVA in 1991. It is 18 miles long with elevations ranging from 40 to 2,300 feet. Today there are 5,700 acres of vinifera grapevines, predominantly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Conscientious, innovative farming regimens allied with traditional, “minimalist” winemaking techniques craft wines of balance, elegance and distinction. For Morgan Winery, this single-minded focus has produced a record of consistent, category leading, award winning wines.
Founder and Winemaker Dan Morgan Lee’s goal has always been to produce wines that are “true” – true to the variety and vineyard source and show true balance and complexity, while being enjoyable upon release. Morgan delivers consistency from bottle to bottle, vintage to vintage by nurturing sustainable, long-term relationships with their own vineyard and cellar crews, top-notch growers, and the finest French barrel coopers.
Happy Harry’s was fortunate to exclusively obtain the entire allocation of their 2021 G17 Syrah into North Dakota. We complemented it with their always highly rated Chardonnay’s just in time to complement any upcoming holiday dinner table! Enjoy!
Morgan Metallico Santa Lucia Highlands Chardonnay—2022
The aromatics are intense with green apple, pear, and apple blossom. The palate has ripe fruit flavors of sweet lemon rind and quince. This wine encompasses a light-medium body with bright acidity and a long finish. It’s a perfect accompaniment to holiday appetizers, shellfish or any lighter holiday entrees.

Morgan Highland Chardonnay—2022
This focused, elegant chardonnay’s aromas feature Bosc pear and Golden apple. On the palate, aromas are complemented by lemon curd, baked apple, and a hint of butterscotch. Incredibly food-friendly, the Highland Chardonnay is a perfect match for cream-sauced pastas, roasted pork and salmon.

Morgan G17 Syrah—2021
The name “G17” refers to one of Monterey County’s best known route, linking several of our grape growing appellations.
This Rhone-style blend has a garnet color highlighted with purple edges. Aromas of brambly black fruit, raspberry hard candy, and hints of savory spice jump out of the glass. The wine is medium-plus bodied with crisp acidity that complements the palate that is packs dark strawberry, raspberry, rose and violet flavors into a seamless package. Its weight and balance make it a perfect pairing for any holiday ham, lamb, duck or turkey.
