The Napanook vineyard is nestled in a natural amphitheater at the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains on the west side of the Napa Valley.  Fed by winter rains, its underground springs flow through ancient riverbeds and provide a natural supply of water to its grapevines, allowing them to develop deep roots.  Over centuries this fertile benchland’s microclimate has provided ideal conditions for crops and grape growing.  It was here, in 1838, that George Yount planted Napa Valley’s very first vines.

Dominus Estate is the Napa Valley property of the famous Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix. The wine is bottled from the historic Napanook Vineyard and continues to evolve under the stewardship of Christian Moueix. The estate’s Bordeaux varietals benefit from the Yountville microclimate where temperatures are moderated by cool breezes from the San Pablo Bay and their own practices of dry farming. The resulting wine is a uniquely refined expression of this special terroir.
